OTHER THINGS TO DO

Apart from the historic sites close by, there are other recreational pursuits that can be enjoyed. Being close to the New Forest there are numerous walks and plenty of spaces to ride cycles. Here you will see the New Forest ponies, cattle and often pigs roaming free across the forest and roads. The Forest is a large expanse of open gorse, heath land together with wooded areas. The main A31 is the dividing line and each part is different. It is also a great place for bird watching.

If you are interested in golf then we are centrally located within a twelve mile radius of seven golf courses, these include Hamptworth Golf Club, Bramshaw Golf Club [which has two courses- one is actually in the open forest], Salisbury and South Wilts, Wellow Golf Club, Dunwood Manor Golf Club, Paultons Park Golf Centre and finally High Post Golf Club, near Amesbury.

Salisbury Racecourse has regular meetings throughout the summer, May to September. The race course is on the south west side of Salisbury and is within easy reach by car.

On sunny days Bournemouth's sandy beaches are ideal to spend the day relaxing by the sea, or visit Swanage and its Steam Railway.

Keen walkers could follow the Jurassic coastline to Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove.

For shoppers there is nearby Southampton with the indoor West Quay Shopping Centre.
